1. About Firstpass

Firstpass (firstpassnz.com) provides property hazard screening reports based on publicly available GIS data from Greater Wellington Regional Council, Wellington City Council, Hutt City Council, Porirua City Council, and Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). By using this website you agree to these terms.

2. Not a LIM or professional advice

Firstpass reports are not Land Information Memoranda (LIMs), title searches, property surveys, or engineering, legal, financial, or insurance advice. We are not civil engineers, lawyers, surveyors, or insurers. Reports do not assess EQC or Natural Hazards Commission cover eligibility.

If you are purchasing property, you should obtain a council LIM and seek advice from qualified professionals.

3. Data limitations

Reports are generated by intersecting a property parcel boundary against mapped hazard and zoning layers. “Not detected” means the parcel did not intersect the mapped layer at the time of the check. It does not mean the property is free from hazard or risk.

Source data is provided by third-party agencies and may be incomplete, outdated, or subject to change without notice. We make no representation as to the accuracy, completeness, or currency of source data.

4. No warranties

Reports are provided “as is” for personal due diligence purposes. To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

5. Limitation of liability

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Firstpass is limited to the amount you paid for the specific report giving rise to the claim (currently NZ$49 per report). We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of bargain, loss of profit, or reliance damages.

6. Personal use

Reports are licensed for your personal use in connection with a property purchase or due diligence. You may share a report with your lawyer, insurer, mortgage adviser, or building inspector. You may not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit reports.

7. Payments

Payments will be processed by Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers. Stripe is not connected in this build — payment is a placeholder.

8. Refunds

Because reports are generated instantly from public data, all sales are final once the report is delivered. If you believe there is a material error in your report, contact us at support@firstpassnz.com.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
